“The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength,
not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack in will.” -Vince Lombardi
This is a statement that you will either agree with, or you have never pushed your will to know where it might really take you. Either way, I am an Engineer, not a philosopher nor a poet, hence I backup everything I say with facts.
My will lead me along a certain path to study ‘complex things'. I found this learning and exploration thoroughly enjoyable, but did not appreciate its importance, until I realized that it actually attracted excellent opportunities in well-known companies (Google, Amazon, Accenture, ...) and doctoral positions (Artificial Intelligence), which, at that time, humbly rejected them.
Rather than asking the golden question 'Why would I refuse such positions?'
try asking yourself the most important question,
‘Why not you? Why aren’t you in demand?'
No, YOU, do not lack in strength, luck or level of intellect.
Maybe it's the right time to think of exploring the power of your will.
Now back to answering your 'golden' question, of course I thought about all positions in every way, considering all the pros and cons. The decision to choose 'the best' was obviously hard, knowing that the answer I was looking for was not there.
The one that satisfies: 'What is the purpose of having such a position anyway?'
Well that question hadn’t found its perfect solution, until, straight from absolutely nowhere, among all the people I’ve met along the way, those with truly beautiful minds had this key answer:
'Our purpose is to make a difference in this world', that's where it all began.
Hopefully you did not get bored (not much) reading this, the purpose was to empower, not to show case any aspect of my life - I've specified certain positions and opportunities to highlight that this is a real life experience, not another fictional story.
